Bob is a Co-Chair of Stevens & Lee New England. For more than 35 years, he has handled complex litigation in federal and state courts and arbitration matters throughout the U.S.
His diverse trial practice includes trusts and estates fiduciary litigation, shareholder litigation, health care litigation, construction litigation and intellectual property litigation. As a business lawyer, he also routinely handles litigation arising from M&A transactions and is a strategic advisor to clients on insurance coverage and risk mitigation. Bob has served as lead trial counsel for clients across the country, including in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Maine, Arizona, Illinois, New Jersey, California, Texas and Florida
Bob advises trustees, shareholders, chief executives and boards of directors on fiduciary obligations and business litigation strategy. His clients have included fiduciaries and beneficiaries of trusts and owners of privately held businesses, including technology and manufacturing companies, as well as financial services companies and health care entities.
Bob is certified as an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association. He is an adjunct professor of advanced business law at Providence College, Ryan School of Business.
Representative matters include:
- After an 11-day trial in Superior Court, successfully defended trustees against fiduciary claims and obtained an award of both executor and trustee compensation
- After a four-day trial, obtained an order removing a trustee from his fiduciary responsibilities
- After a nine-day arbitration, successfully defended a boat manufacturer against claims of fraud, defect and products liability arising out of the manufacture of three large passenger ferries
- Successfully prosecuted to settlement on the eve of trial claims on behalf of an international technology client arising out of a failed SAP global ERP implementation
- Granted summary judgment obtaining appraisal rights for minority shareholder clients in the Business Litigation Session, Suffolk County
